COVID-19 and HERD MENTALITY

Dr. Death AKA Scott Atlas
But Dr. Scott Atlas, a White House COVID-19 adviser, ( who should be removed by Terminex and dumped in a landfill)  seemed to discourage testing individuals with no COVID-19 symptoms at an event in Florida on August 31. “We really have to be careful about testing, and I think the CDC guideline now is very clear that asymptomatic people — that’s not a priority for a test,” he said…  ( Frankly that sounds like Himmler advising Adolf Hitler how to run the Holocaust, Or Mussolini telling Italian Bakers how to make good pizza, or Mitch MnConnell telling T-RUMP to tell the truth… )

Surgeon Gen. Says Herd Immunity Could Lead To Many Complications/Deaths
US Surgeon General Jerome Adams said Wednesday that a “ Herd immunity" approach to combating COVID-19 could "lead to many complications/deaths."   Adams posted the comment on his official Twitter account, along with a link to recent article from The Journal of the American Medical Association entitled "What is Herd Immunity?"

"The summary: Large numbers of people would need to be infected to achieve herd immunity without a vaccine; this could overwhelm health care systems and lead to many complications/deaths," Adams tweeted. "So far, there is no example of a large-scale successful intentional infection-based herd immunity strategy."

Instead, Adams urged people to “wear masks,” "wash hands" and "watch distances."  The surgeon general's comments come after the White House embraced a controversial declaration by a group of scientists calling for an approach that relies on "herd immunity."

The so-called Great Barrington Declaration, which claims on its website to have been signed by more than 9,000 medical and public health scientists around the globe, opposes lockdowns and argues that authorities should allow the novel coronavirus to spread among young, healthy individuals while protecting the elderly and the vulnerable.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top expert on infectious diseases, has called the concept “ Ridiculous” and “ Total Nonsense.” The Governor of Florida is thinking about it, don’t spend much time thinking, idiots can’t think… say no and end that rhetoric, lives depend on that, including yours…

Dear Ron DeSantis: People are tired of your ass-kissing T-RUMP posture, you have no backbone if you pursue this threat, read my lips, no herd Immunity for Florida, so look out for the people not your one term getting blown out of Florida and grow a set of cajones, obviously you are missing

SEE RON DESANTIS PROFILE

Ed-Note:  Declaration And Truth -  The Great Barrington Declaration has more than 9,000 signees. Wrong, there are 9004 believers adding Dr. Scott Atlas, noted Brainless Schmuck and Douchbag Quack, President and Ignorant World Champ Donald T-RUMP, the most corrupt liar in the world and Mike Pence who believes anything T-RUMP tells him…plus the aforementioned Ron DeSantis… trying to unseat Pence. Thats where Pence is at Donald.s seat.

Thats not good and any conversation about this is the same rhetoric when we fought Anti-Vaccines about Autism, Hep-A, Measles and other cult quack bullshits that surface when scumbags learn to type.  (The result was many died or their condition worsened, when vaccines are ignored and certain pandemics of the past reappeared…)

If they want to have Herd Immunity in Florida as Ron DeSantis mentioned it, he will be the first to the hangman tree when a Large Herd of Normal Citizens who can think realize this guy is as dumb and stupid as T-RUMP and needs to be eliminated before anyone is harmed.  Just another politician with a mouth and in office totally controlled by T-RUMP and an asshole to boot.  (Again NO HERD MENTALITY HERE in Florida period, and it won’t happen one way or another here in Florida, basically its intentional murder…)

Herd Mentality - Our Leaders Newest And Most Dangerous Thoughts

SUPPORTED BY DR. SCOTT ATLAS  (Weirdo Extrodinaire and liar Extremeis)

The head of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention suggested in a conversation Friday that one the latest addition's to the White House Coronavirus Task Force is arming President Donald Trump with misleading data about a range of issues, including questioning the efficacy of masks, whether young people are susceptible to the virus and the potential benefits of herd immunity.

Here's what we know of Dr. Scott Atlas, who joined the president's task force back in August:

  • Before he joined the task force, Atlas was a frequent guest on Fox News, where he pushed to reopen the country and espoused views that more closely align with Trump's opinions during the health crisis.
  • An academic, Atlas is the Robert Wesson Senior Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution and a neuroradiologist and health-care policy expert.
  • Atlas graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS in biology and later went on to receive an MD degree from the University of Chicago School of Medicine.
  • Between 1998 and 2012, Atlas was employed at as a professor and Chief of Neuroradiology at Stanford University Medical Center.
  • Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney secured Atlas as a top advisor for health care on their previous presidential campaigns.
  • Since his addition to the task force, Atlas has become the medical expert who spends the most time with the president, and his profile has been elevated in recent weeks by his appearing in the White House briefing room when Trump speaks with reporters.
  • Atlas has denied advocating the benefits of herd immunity after telling Fox News in July, "These people getting the infection is not really a problem, and in fact, as we said months ago, when you isolate everyone, including all the healthy people, you're prolonging the problem because you’re preventing population immunity. Low-risk groups getting the infection is not a problem. In fact, it's a positive."
  • In early September, a collective of 98 immunologists, epidemiologists and infectious diseases physicians signed a letter calling attention to "the falsehoods and misrepresentations of science recently fostered by Dr. Scott Atlas."

Now A Word From The Man Who Kills People With No Remorse

WASHINGTON – President Donald T-RUMP claimed Tuesday during a televised town hall that "herd mentality" could make the coronavirus "disappear" with or without a vaccine.  During a 90-minute town hall hosted by ABC News in the must win battleground of Pennsylvania, Trump defended his repeated assertion that the virus will eventually disappear even without a vaccine, citing what he called "herd mentality," an apparent reference to "herd immunity."

ABC News’ Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos asked Trump whether the coronavirus "would go away without the vaccine?"   "Sure, over a period of time. Sure, with time it goes away —" Trump responded.  Stephanopoulos interjected: "--And many deaths."

"And you'll develop, you'll develop herd -- like a herd mentality. It's going to be -- it's going to be herd developed - and that's going to happen. That will all happen,” Trump said.  Herd immunity is the theory that the virus is eradicated only after a high percentage of the population is infected, limiting its ability to spread.

Extremely Dangerous

Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health, who is the nation’s leading infectious disease expert, has said the “death toll would be enormous” if the country attempted herd immunity.

However, many scientists and doctors, including Fauci, have strongly disagreed with that assertion, expressing concerns of the COVID-19 mixing with flu season.  “If you're talking about getting back to a degree of normality which resembles where we were prior to COVID, it's going to be well into 2021, maybe even towards the end of 2021," Fauci said recently.

For COVID-19, doctors believe 60% to 80% of the population needs natural antibodies, or to be vaccinated, to achieve herd immunity.  The US has reported more than 6.5 million confirmed cases. The number needed to achieve herd immunity is far more, as the US population is 328.2 million.  The Washington Post calculated that nearly three million Americans would have to die for the US to reach herd immunity without a vaccine.

Andrew Bates, Director of Rapid Response for Democrat nominee Joe Biden's campaign, tweeted: "This is the *current* PRESIDENT of the United States, whose charged with keeping the American people safe. This would literally mean millions of deaths."

ED- OP    Kaleigh Once Again Pumped Out The Lies And Spins

The White House earlier in September denied the T-RUMP administration has ever considered a policy of “ Herd immunity.""The herd immunity so-called theory was something made up in the fanciful minds of the media. That was never something that was ever considered here at the White House,” press secretary Kayleigh McEnany told reporters during a White House Press briefing “.  (she lied)

•  T-RUMP also claimed Tuesday he believes, “ We’re rounding the corner” on the COVID-19. ( he lied)

•  Trump defended this thinking by naming former Stanford Neuroradiology Chief Dr. Scott Atlas.  He is not a scientist, nor is he a medical doctor in immunology,  or anything to do with pandemics.  He reads your X-Rays…Basically he is recognized by those in the field who believe if he walks like a duck, talks like a duck, he fully qualifies as a quack …  (that sh*t’s in your driveway…)

•  Atlas has become a White House adviser on the coronavirus, and has publicly downplayed the virus. There were reports from The Washington Post that Atlas has been pushing herd immunity inside the White House, and T-RUMP has been listening.  ( Ignorance is bliss)

After T-RUMPS failure to get the FDA to approve the Mr. Pillowman Mike Lindell’s Oleander Treatment for COVID as it would probably kill millions. Oleander is a poison.  Now its herd mentality.  Well, I guess if there are no straws left you grab what you can and herd thinkers do leave a lot of sh*t around the place.  (And T-RUMP is desperate)

•  During the town hall, the president also repeatedly rejected the idea that he had downplayed the severity of the virus, despite recordings from Bob Woodward’s interviews in which he told the journalist he thought downplaying it would help avoid a panic.  (Just play the tapes he lies)

👺  Herd mentality or behavior is the behavior of individuals in a group acting collectively without centralized direction. Herd behavior occurs in animals in herds, packs, bird flocks, fish schools and so on, as well as in lower forms of humans called Jerks and Morons, some fake Evangelicals and the GOP base with Red hats and T shirts at rallies. Considering the idiots and morons in the White House it kind of fits the billing.

Science:  ECONOMIC MODELS OF HERDING INCORPORATE NARROW BEHAVIORAL ASSUMPTIONS

  1. Herding can be defined as the phenomenon of individuals deciding to follow others and imitating group behaviors rather than deciding independently and atomistically on the basis of their own, private information.
  2. Herding theory has its roots in Keynes, who focused on the motivations to imitate and follow the crowd in a world of uncertainty (Keynes 1930).
  3. Keynes conceived herding as a response to uncertainty and individuals’ perceptions of their own ignorance: people may follow the crowd because they think that the rest of the crowd is better informed. This can generate instability and in financial and medical markets herding is a key factor generating speculative episodes.
  4. Example the anti-vaccine people and some Religious Groups who rely on their herd mentality for everything they do in life… Herding cannot be easily explained as the outcome of rational expectations theory so much varies…
  5. In the context of herding analysis, psychological analyses can explain the impacts of personality traits, moods and emotions on herding behavior.  From the perspective of cognitive psychology, the theories focus on the cognitive processes of social learning as a way to acquire information and knowledge but the underlying dependence on an assumption of rationality limits these analyses.
  6. This is addressed in part in the large literature on cognitive bias: cognitive biases may lead to herding because, for many reasons including cognitive constraints, environmental cues and/or framing effects, individuals may be following the ill-judged decisions of a group.  ( In this case the group is the WhiteHouse.)
  7. Cognitive factors are moderated by personality and psychological traits.  There is evidence suggesting that individuals of lower cognitive ability are more risk averse and if herding is a response to risk then cognitive factors may play a role though identifying the causal factor in this is difficult.

T-RUMP And His Advisers Should Not Consider A Herd Immunity Strategy…

It Will Result In Significant Hospitalizations And Death…

Winter is coming and we are headed towards the feared intersection of COVID-19 and flu season. Yet already the coronavirus is surging across the world and the United States, the global leader in number of coronavirus deaths, is moving closer to a quarter-million fatalities. Our medical system could be overwhelmed if hospitalizations increase.

This is why I am concerned about the reports that some officials and policymakers in the White House are considering “herd immunity” as a strategy to combat the pandemic. This is dangerous, callous and flawed thinking.

Herd immunity is a concept that is usually associated with vaccinations: It is the idea that if enough people become immune from an infection (usually by taking a vaccine), it becomes more difficult for that infection to spread in a community because it will run out of people to infect and pass the disease on. Those that remain vulnerable (for instance, people who cannot take vaccines for medical reasons) are indirectly protected by the reduced probability of spread.

Young people will spread the disease

There has been a movement to apply this thinking to COVID-19, supported by scientists and economists in a document called the “Great Barrington Declaration.” Unfortunately, this has also been embraced by some members of the T-RUMP administration and alluded to by President Donald Trump himself.

Senior officials who insisted on anonymity cited this document on a recent call with reporters discussing strategies to end the pandemic, according to the New York Times. And while never actually using the term himself, the president has stated at a town hall that the virus could naturally disappear, saying “you’ll develop herd, like a herd mentality. It's going to be … herd developed.”

This will not work, at least not without significant hospitalizations and death. The theory goes that if we allow young people to be naturally exposed to the virus while isolating the elderly and vulnerable, a herd immunity will safely develop and the virus will peter out.  Again, in theory, this sounds plausible, but in practice, people will die.

First off, this model presumes that young people do not get sick from COVID-19. This is not true. It is true that they are at lower risk of dying and having serious illness, but there are still young people around the country who do get quite sick. As a hospital physician, I have now treated many patients in their 30s and 40s struggling to breathe from COVID-19. Some spent weeks in the hospital, dealing with debilitating weakness and PTSD even after recovery. Many young people who have recovered also continue to deal with post-viral complications such as persistent fatigue and asthma-like breathing problems that we are still just beginning to understand.

Secondly, to believe that an incredibly contagious and airborne virus will stay confined to young people and not affect the elderly and vulnerable is extremely naïve and faulty logic. Even with the best of efforts, due to asymptomatic carriers, somebody’s grandma or grandpa will be exposed, or the virus will infect a nursing home or retirement community.  Those who are more susceptible will be surrounded by the asymptomatic but infected — who are supposed to be the very people protecting them through “herd immunity.”

Vaccine is the only answer

Sweden has attempted a version of herd immunity by having virtually no lockdowns at the height of the pandemic. This has not worked. The country continues to have increased mortality rates, a high number of hospitalizations and continued virus spread, and is rethinking its approach.

The World Health Organization director, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, this month called the strategy of herd immunity to combat COVID-19 both “ Scientifically and ethically problematic.”  Furthermore, there has never been a known case of herd immunity without a vaccine.

Whether driven by a desire to open up the economy, supposed scientific reasoning, or just plain restlessness, applying the concept of herd immunity to this pandemic is misguided and deadly. Dr. Anthony Fauci even called it “total nonsense.” We are supposed to be leading the world, but this will only widen the fatality gap between America and the nations that are doing a better job of containing their outbreaks. No, “herd immunity” will not work. We need to stay the course of social distancing, masking, and listening to the wider scientific community while we await true herd immunity from a safe vaccine.
